Information and research

Up-to-date and reliable information, including experiential knowledge, about mental health problems and living with them is important for both the individual and society.

How do you know you’re depressed? Why did exhaustion take over again? Does anyone else ever hears voices?

The internet is full of many types of information about mental health problems, and it’s not always easy to know what to trust. The so-called ‘medical language’ may also be difficult to understand. It is therefore important that mental health problems are discussed clearly and using everyday examples, by both professionals and experts by experience.

Remember – you’re not alone.

The Finnish Central Association for Mental Health has produced the Mental Health Barometer since 2005. It’s the only national indicator that has been used for this long to monitor the stigma of mental health disorders and experiences of the quality and availability of services in Finland.

On our website, you can find descriptions of the most common mental health disorders and get advice on how to live with them and where to find help and support. You can also find information on various challenging life situations.
