Life brings stages when we miss and need another person to walk alongside us. On our website, you can find information on many mental health disorders and challenging life situations.
Mental health problems often evoke many types of emotions and thoughts that you may need support and help in dealing with. Reliable information about mental health problems and difficult life situations may ease uncertainty and increase understanding.
The operations and services of the Finnish Central Association for Mental Health are organised in Finnish:
- In the Valoa Chat, you can reach professionals to support you and help you find solutions to your situation.
- Each year, we organise about two hundred events where you can hear both professionals in the field and experts by experience. On our courses you can meet other people living with mental health problems face-to-face or online.
Mental health associations operating in different parts of Finland offer peer support and act as practical experts in everyday matters.

mental health disorders
Diagnoses and their diverse symptoms may sound troubling. However, diagnoses ultimately only exist to help doctors ensure the right type of treatment and to define official social benefits.
Challenging life situations
Difficult emotions, thoughts and experiences are not always a sign of mental health problems. However, it’s important to recognise when the life situation is getting so heavy that you need help in managing it.
